Drawings

My work in the field of painting or drawing is mainly focused on exploring our human condition through the relationship we have with the natural landscape and, through it, with the Universe that lives within each one of us. I base myself on the idea that we are ONE with ALL that exists on the physical plane, deeply connected on a subtle spiritual plane, even though we are seemingly divided not only between who we think we are as individuals, but also between our species and the rest of the species and things that exist.

In the drawing I am interested in exploring a precious and highly detailed use of graphite in contrast to plans made with colored pencils. The tension between the black and white of the graphite drawing and the color in the geometric shapes is part of the constant reflection on the duality of the perceptible world.

That duality in which we believe we are is the basis of the conflict that I am interested in exploring, and in a way that powerful but illusory tension, materializes in my work through geometric shapes or traces of that type that invade the landscape again and again. Sometimes the landscape is extremely descriptive, with extreme attention to detail. At other times it becomes more distorted, with impasto brushstrokes and strident colors. These ways of painting the landscape are also part of this search within opposites in permanent tension, since in my work the tensions exist between work and work, as well as within each of them. Through painting, in an absolutely intuitive way, I look for answers to these unknowns, although I only find more questions. I only believe that it is possible to approach that answer if we can let go of the mind that tries to analyze and understand what it sees, and accept the power of intuition and wordless certainty that emerges from every image.
